The “Mobilegeddon” is upon us… Are you ready for April 21?

Back in February of this year, Google announced that it
would be launching its new mobile-friendly algorithm to commence on the 21st of April… When I first heard about it
I kept wondering, “What does this mean to me? What does
this mean to my customers?”

I quickly learned that Google will be expanding their use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal, and as of the 21st of April, if your website does not pass the “Google Mobile Friendly Test” you will expect to see a significant impact on your search results, and a massive drop to your rankings.

The first thing you have to do is visit the GOOGLE WEBMASTERS SITE, type in your URL and click “Analyze”… If your search results in a pass, then you have nothing to worry about. If you fail this test, visit the GOOGLE PAGE SPEED INSIGHT SITE to see what actions you need to take in order
to pass the test. Most common implementations include:

• Use of legible font sizes;
• Configuration of the Viewport;
• Avoid Plug-ins;
• Size content to Viewport;
• Size tap targets appropriately.

If you create a new mobile website and have incorporated the above actions, go back to the GOOGLE WEBMASTERS SITE
to see if you have passed.
